FAQs
Cargo FAQs.
We’ve been experiencing high season lately, which has resulted in the overloading of all transshipment ports. This has affected Puerto Caldera’s itinerary. Additionally, please note that ports like Ningbo, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Qingdao, etc., which are not home ports, are considered secondary ports and require two transshipments. This produces further delays and affects Puerto Caldera’s itinerary. As these ports require two transshipments, the transit time is longer than that of a base port.
Because the vessel cannot reach the final destination for reasons such as size or containers being unloaded in other countries.
This depends on the port of departure and the shipping line used. Usually, the carriers with the shortest transit time have the highest rate.
The containers are arranged on the site by counting them at specific times. However, due to SPC’s highs, there may be a delay in removing all the containers at the designated times. Sometimes, it can take 3-5 days to remove all the containers because the site may become saturated.
According to the Ministry of Finance instructions, all containers entering Caldera must be moved to the site to be transferred to their final destination, regulating the congestion at SPC.
Some EXW Incoterm quotations are usually available the next day, as costs must be quoted at the origin. These charges are obtained at the origin and, due to the time difference, are due the following day.
A quotation with incoterm EXW means that the importer must also pay all the costs at the origin, such as collection, payment to the shipping company, documentation, and export at the origin. Therefore, the exact dimensions of the cargo are needed to calculate the collection at the destination, as it is done in trucks in the case of consolidated cargo.
